If you have close‐set eyes…

You need to open them up.

How: Widen them by smoothing a medium-tone eye shadow all over the lid. Apply the darkest shade, also known as the contouring shade, at the outer corner of the eye crease and blend outwards at the outer edge of the eye. Highlight outer corner of the brow bone with the lightest shade. With a soft eyeliner pencil, line the upper lid. Start halfway across the lid and extend the line slightly past the outer corner. Blend with an eye shadow brush or sponge eye shadow applicator to soften. Apply a single coat of mascara to the upper lashes, and a second coat to the outer lashes only. This opens up your eyes to make them seem less close-set.

To open up the gap between the eyes and to make them seem further apart, remove a few hairs from the inner edge of the brow with a pair of sharp tweezers. Concentrate eye makeup colour on the outer portion of the eye and avoid applying colour to the inner part.

If you have wide‐set eyes…

You need to close the gap.

How: Start by sweeping a medium-tone eye shadow over the entire lid. Apply the darkest shade in the crease of the eye, starting from midway and blending inwards into the hollow that reaches from nose to brow. Sweep under the arch of the brow with a highlight colour. With eyeliner, line your eye from the inner corner of the upper lid, drawing outwards to the outer third of the eye. Blend line to fade towards the outer edge. Do the same for the lower lash line. Apply a coat of mascara to both the upper and lower lashes.

Allow brows to grow fuller at the inner portion of the eye to draw the eyes together. Keep colours concentrated on the inner part of the eye.

If you have small eyes…

Make them appear bigger.

How: Wear light shades of eye shadow to open up the eye. Never wear dark shades all over the lids. Use a light eye shadow shade on the lid, but only up to the crease. Colour the outer corner of the eye with a darker shade. Highlight just under the arch of the brow with the lightest shade. Line the upper lid with a soft eyeliner pencil, blending upwards to extend the line. Repeat on the lower lid. Do not join the line - this will close up the eye and make it appear smaller.

If you have single eyelids…

Emphasise them!

How: Sweep on medium shade from lash line to brow bone, using a soft shadow brush. Concentrate the darkest shade just above the crease. Blend and fade towards the brow using the eye shadow brush. Sweep the highlighter on the brow bone. Apply a deep shade of eyeliner right on the lash line, sweeping colour on the inner two third of the upper lid. Slick on mascara to the top lashes. To open up the eyes even more, curl upper lashes with an eyelash curler.
