Speaking at the product launch, Stanford Guo, General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Southeast Asia told media that consumers here have long been aware of the benefits of contact lenses and a sizable portion of consumers are actually considering using them.

“With the advancement of technology and consumer demand, contact lens, which is often credited as a concept first conceived by visionary Leonardo Da Vinci in 1508, has evolved from hard uncomfortable perspex lenses that can only be worn for a few hours, to soft, smooth, breathable and comfortable lenses that can be worn all day or longer.

Today, most Malaysian consumers with eyewear needs are well aware of the benefits of wearing contact lenses. They consider wearing contact lens an aspiration and perceive it as liberating and empowering, allowing them to ‘break free’ and do better or more in whatever they do without inhibitions. As such, it is no surprise when our recent study on Malaysian eyewear users revealed that 6 out of every 10 spectacles wearers are currently considering contact lenses. Statistics also indicated that there are 300,000 contact lenses considerers in Klang Valley” he said.

He continued: “However, based on the same study, exclusive spectacles wearers still represent the majority of eyewear users in Malaysia. The statistics shows 57% uses spectacles only; 38% wears both spectacles and contact lens; while 5% wears solely contact lens. The main concerns of these non‐contacts wearers are fear of application and comfort”.

According to Guo, ACUVUE® ADVANCE® PLUS with HYDRACLEAR® bi‐weekly contact lenses is designed specifically to ease first time wearers’ concerns of using contact lenses. It features 3D Comfort that optimize comfort in three dimensions for new wearers from day one to 14, all day long.

How does 3D Comfort optimize comfort for new contact lens wearers?

Daylong Comfort:
HYDRACLEAR® technology packs a moisture‐rich wetting agent into the lens matrix for long lasting comfort from morning to night.

Day 14 Comfort:
It also provides fresh new lens every two weeks for consistent comfort from Day 1 to Day 14.

In addition to 3D Comfort, ACUVUE® ADVANCE® PLUS contact lenses also provide breathability, UV protection and ease of handling. They are made of silicon hydrogel which is oxygen‐permeable and provides 96% of available oxygen to the open eye. As long‐term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts, ACUVUE® ADVANCE® PLUS also comes with Class 1* UV protection, the highest class available in a contact lens that blocks at least 94% of UV‐A and nearly 100% of UV‐B rays to help protect against harmful radiation to the cornea and into the eye.** The lenses are visibly tinted blue and marked inside out so that you can easily spot them in your lens case and insert them correctly every time.
